The concept of yin and yang describes how contrary forces are, in reality, complementary. The flexibility and versatility that makes unified communications (UC) powerful also makes deployments complex and difficult to manage. In a recent article published by No Jitter, entitled “The Yin and Yang of Unified Communications,” Alan Shen, Unify Square Vice President, Professional Services, explores the complexity of deploying and managing UC and what is necessary for successful UC Management.
So how can companies get a handle on managing those UC environments? Alan explains that the answer is two-fold. The right UC management solution can provide visibility across the entire environment to monitor system performance and availability, but that is only half of the equation. If IT doesn’t have the expertise to address the identified issues, then the software isn’t useful. By combining subject matter expertise with end-to-end, automated monitoring, enterprises can entrust the management of their UC environments to the experts and balance the duality of UC to achieve successful high-quality, integrated, real-time communications.
