This short video will focus on PowerSuite’s newest feature, Data Access Control from Unify Square.

Data Access Control allows organizations to segment unified communications data for administrative and regulatory purposes.

If you’re just using the native Microsoft Admin console, global data is accessible by all administrators, regardless of their responsibility scope. This isn’t ideal for global or complex enterprises that want to restrict an administrator’s access to user data within his or her defined data scope. PowerSuite’s Data Access Control allows you to do just that.

This diagram shows how Data Access Control works for data within PowerSuite. Data can now be grouped into containers, such as data representing only users within the UK, or data representing only users within Germany. These isolated containers of data are called “Data Access Scopes.”

Data Access Scopes rely on two components:

  • Location
  • Organization Breakdown

The first component, Location, utilizes customer-provided IP subnet information and correlates the associated PowerSuite data into groupings. Location enables PowerSuite Administrators who may be responsible for a specific region to see all calls that occur in their defined area of management.

The second component, Organization Breakdown, utilizes Azure Active Directory attributes present in the Office 365 tenant to group data. Any user attribute may be utilized – including Extension Attributes – giving users flexibility in how they choose to group Data Scopes.

By combining these two core components, customers can group and restrict access to PowerSuite data to meet simple or complex regulatory requirements.

For example, this visual shows data groupings at three levels:

  • One grouping for all global data
  • A second grouping for all UK data, and
  • A third grouping for all Germany data

For each of these groupings, administrators are restricted to accessing data only within their defined data access scopes. For instance, a UK administrator would be allowed to access data for UK users & sites, while being unable to access data for users in Germany. Likewise, a Germany administrator would be allowed to access data for Germany users & sites, while being unable to access data for users outside of Germany.

Whether your regulatory or administrative structure is simple or complex, PowerSuite’s Data Access Control will allow you to scope data access to only those who need to see it, increasing your security and focusing your ability to quickly solve end-user issues.
